MIG/MAG Welding

Ankay Büküm provides MIG/MAG shielding gas welding for structural steel, stainless, and aluminum in 1-30 mm thickness.

What Is MIG/MAG (Gas Metal Arc) Welding?

Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is an arc welding process that joins metal parts using a continuously fed wire electrode and shielding gas (argon, CO2, or their mixtures). MIG (Metal Inert Gas) operates with inert gas, while MAG (Metal Active Gas) uses active gas. At Ankay Büküm in Ankara's Ostim Industrial District, our EN ISO 3834-2 certified welding workshop performs MIG/MAG joining of structural steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials in thicknesses from 1 mm to 30 mm. With welding expertise accumulated since 1983, we deliver reliable solutions for industrial projects.

Application Areas

  • Steel Structure Fabrication: Column-beam connections, roof truss welding, and steel hall fabrication using MIG/MAG
  • Tanks and Silos: Storage tank body welding, silo fabrication seam welding, and manhole frame joints
  • Machine Manufacturing: Machine body frames, conveyor system fabrication, and welded assembly of custom equipment parts
  • Automotive and Agriculture: Chassis fabrication, trailer bodies, agricultural machinery frame and component welding
  • Pipe and Profile Joining: Pipe-to-flange welding, profile frame fabrication, and railing system production

Technical Capacity and Specifications

Our welding workshop houses MIG/MAG machines from 250A to 500A capacity. Single and multi-pass welding is applied for material thicknesses from 1 mm to 30 mm. Shielding gases include pure CO2, argon+CO2 mixtures, and pure argon. Certified welding capacity covers structural steel (S235-S460), stainless steel (AISI 304, 316L), and aluminum (5000, 6000 series). All welding positions (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G) are performed.

Quality Assurance

All gas metal arc welding operations comply with EN ISO 3834-2 welding quality management standard. Our welders are certified per EN ISO 9606-1. Post-weld NDT methods include visual testing (VT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and radiographic testing (RT). WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and WPQR (Procedure Qualification Record) documentation is prepared for each project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MIG/MAG welding and what is it used for?

MIG/MAG welding is an arc welding process using continuous wire electrode and shielding gas to join metal parts. It is widely used in steel structures, tanks, machine fabrication, and pipe joining. It provides high productivity and good weld quality.

What is the difference between MIG and MAG welding?

MIG welding uses inert gas (argon) and is typically used for aluminum and stainless steel. MAG welding uses active gas (CO2 or mixture) and is preferred for structural steels. Both methods are performed at Ankay Büküm.

What is Ankay Büküm's gas metal arc welding capacity?

Machines up to 500A weld materials 1-30 mm thick. All welding positions (1G-6G) are performed. Production in EN ISO 3834-2 certified workshop.

What materials can be welded?

Structural steel (S235-S460), stainless steel (AISI 304, 316L), and aluminum (5000, 6000 series) are welded with certified procedures.

How are pricing and delivery times determined?

Pricing is project-based according to weld length, material type, thickness, and quality requirements. Complete service including NDT inspection is provided. Contact us for a quote.
